Swelling & Bloating At Menopause
From The Desk of: Dr. Sandra Testaguzza - 416-236-3488

Menopause denotes the cessation of menstruation in women. To my knowledge, it is a normal physiological process and should not be treated as a disease. With menopause, in a very conservative interpretation, the absence of active egg-producing follicles in the ovaries result in a significant drop of estrogen and progesterone levels. In response, many undesired symptoms occur.  How does Chinese Medicine explain Menopause?  Why do Chinese women breeze through it?  In Chinese Medicine, the the estrogen and progesterone are regulated and controlled by the kidneys, who are the foundation and support to the hormonal system. Consequently, when kidneys are in force, the estrogen and progesterone levels drop at a much lower rate, eliminating many uncomfortable symptoms such as hot flashes and night sweats. In addition, kidneys govern the liquids of the body as they regulate sodium-water balance responsible for water retention. The stagnation of liquids in the body explains weight gain, bloating along with swelling. In response to efficient treatment, water will be expelled from cellular tissue. In Chinese medicine, the kidneys are also responsible for nourishing the bones, as they are involved in the conversion of inactive vitamin D to the active form.  Kidneys regulate blood pressure & proper functioning of the bladder. By treating the kidney energy, you may comprehend how many symptoms can be relieved in a most natural way. Acupuncture will exhibit a tonic effect on the female system. Slow bone mass is calcium leaching from the bone. There are ways of strengthening bone mass in postmenopausal women by proper diet and intake of minerals that are of absorbent quality.

Acupuncture treatment combined with Homeopathic products help elevate kidney energy. These products are chosen for your specific needs, they are uncostly and are «non-hormone related.» If you desire to be among one of those women who wishes to breeze through this transitional moment of  life, embrace the Oriental approach and cherish life once more. "Orient" your choice towards a healthy and natural journey.  Menopause can be a very positive transition, a time of empowerment.
